This Blue Howlite, Amethyst & Coral Pendant is simply gorgeous. The large opaque round Blue Howlite cabachon has black veins running through offering a stunning contrast to the rich blue colour. Blue Howlite or ‘Turquenite’ is a semi precious stone that is often mistaken for Turquoise (and sometimes sold) as the colours can be very similar. In addition to the large Blue Howlite cabachon there is also a lovely cut Amethyst together with a stunning red coral cabachon.
Blue Howlite is as a borate mineral that is principally that consists of calcium together with silica and other minerals. In its natural state it often comes in irregularly shaped nodules that are usually white. It is a mineral that owes its name to the Canadian mineralogist Henry How (hence the name Howlite) who first came across the mineral in 1868.
