Shark Teeth - Megalodon
Fossilised Megalodon Teeth otodus megalodon
Fossilised Megalodon Sharks teeth are highly sought after. The megalodon, otodus megalodon (carcharocles megalodon) was the biggest Shark that has ever lived. They evolved around 20 million years ago, but have been extinct now for the past 3 million years. (despite what you might see on you-tube) Everything about them was gigantic, they reached a length of 15-16 metres long and jaws up to 3 metres wide. Because sharks don’t have bone as such, only cartilage, it is generally only their teeth that became fossilised. Complete megalodon teeth are much more uncommon (and therefore expensive) than partial teeth. The largest teeth ever found have been around 18cm long, and have sold for up to £35,000, …..we like to think that ours are a bit more affordable!
