This sterling silver Carnelian and Blue Topaz pendant has a 925 hallmark on the clasp. These two iconic semi-precious stones work together in total harmony, with the soothing orange of the Carnelian combining with the vibrant and sparkling Blue Topaz.
Carnelian is an orange semi-precious stone, a silica mineral, and also form of chalcedony. The rusty, orange colouring is due to iron oxide being present during the minerals formation. As with other forms of chalcedony it has been made into beads and carved into jewellery for thousands of years. The Romans discovered that hot wax didn’t adhere to it, this made it invaluable for imprinting seal rings. Blue Topaz is classified as a silicate mineral of aluminium and fluorine. Topaz is a semi-precious stone that can be found in a whole spectrum of colours. These range from completely colourless, to shades of golden yellow and brown, through to pink, and blue.
