Blue Howlite is sometimes given the name ‘Turquinite’ due to it sharing some of the same characteristics as Turquoise. Both are blue and they both have ‘mysterious’ black veins. Howlite can be a variety of colours although the vast majority is white. Blue Howlite is an attractive semi-precious gemstone with some people preferring it to turquoise. It generally has a brighter colour to the more milky opaque colour of turquoise. Its bright ‘sky’ blue uplifting colours mean it is a stone for any time of year, summer, winter, spring and autumn.
