Celestite is a mineral also known as Celestine and is mostly a clear or translucent. It occurs mostly in sedimentary rocks especially limestones. This is a mineral consisting of strontium sulphate. In Madagascar however the crystals are a superb sky blue colour and these deposits of Celestine are some of the best in the world. They mostly come from the Sakoany region on the North West coast of the Island. Celestite gets is name from the word caelestis the latin word for celestial because of the sky blue colour. Other countries where Celestite occurs include, Tunisia, Canada and also Mexico.
