These Blue Howlite ‘Bunch Of Grapes’ Drop Earrings are all made with Blue Howlite beads on sterling silver wires. This is a really eye catching design with each earring made up of 15 individual beads and their sky blue colours.
Blue Howlite or ‘Turquenite’ is a semi precious stone with black veins and a similar appearance to Turquoise (and is sometimes seen for sale masquerading as turquoise) the colours are often very similar. It is as a borate mineral that is principally that consists of calcium together with silica and other minerals. In its natural state it often comes in irregularly shaped nodules that are usually white. It is a mineral that owes its name to the Canadian mineralogist Henry How (hence the name Howlite) who first came across the mineral in 1868.
