This gorgeous Blue Howlite oval pendant in a contemporary design is set in Sterling Silver. The bright turquoise colouring doesn’t have the black ‘mazy’ lines running through it . Blue Howlite is sometimes called ‘Turquenite’ and is a semi precious stone with a similar appearance to Turquoise. It is sometimes seen for sale online masquerading as turquoise the colours are often very similar.
Blue Howlite is as a borate mineral that is principally that consists of calcium together with silica and other minerals. In its natural state it often comes in irregularly shaped nodules that are usually white and often dyed blue. It is a mineral that owes its name to the Canadian mineralogist Henry How (hence the name Howlite) who first came across the mineral in 1868.
Metaphysically; Blue Howlite is a powerful calming stone and good at repelling negative energy. It is a stone that can help balance calcium levels within the body so aids both teeth and bones. When placed under the pillow it can help restful sleep.
