This stunning Carnelian & Faceted Garnet Pendant is really eye-catching. These two semi-precious stones work especially well together. The Orange Carnelian and deep red, faceted, Garnet. The hand crafted, hinged, setting is all Sterling Silver, with a 925 hallmark on the clasp.
Carnelian is a lovely translucent orange semi-precious stone, a silica mineral, which is also a form of chalcedony. The gorgeous autumnal orange colouring is due to the presence of iron oxide. As with other forms of chalcedony it has been made into beads and carved into jewellery for thousands of years. The Romans discovered that hot wax didn’t adhere to it, this made it invaluable for imprinting seal rings. These Garnets are from India, a country that produces stones with the most intense colours. These too have also been used as gemstones for thousands of years.
