Carnelian is an orange semi-precious stone, a silica mineral, and form of chalcedony. The rusty, orange colouring is due to iron oxide being present when the mineral was formed. The Romans discovered that hot wax didn’t adhere to it, this made it invaluable for imprinting seal rings. The Garnets are from India, a country that is famous for producing stones with the most intense colours. These are also gemstones that have been popular throughout history.
