Chrysocolla Egg, from the Lily Mine in Peru

Chrysocolla Egg from the famous Lily Mine, near Ica in Peru. This egg shows the typical shades of blue and green, together with the mottled brown colours created by other minerals present. This Egg has not been ‘over polished’ so parts of it retain a natural attractive texture of this beautiful semi-precious stone.

Chrysocolla is an opaque copper silicate mineral. It has a superb range of colours, browns, vivid greens, dark blue and turquoise blue. Because this is a mineral that contains copper, it is often found in association with Malachite and Azurite. It gets its name from the words ‘chrysos’ and ‘kolla’ ancient Greek words for ‘gold’ and ‘glue’. Because it contains copper ore it was useful for soldering gold, hence the name. Chrysocolla comes from a variety of countries including, Australia, Central Africa and also Chile and Peru. The Lily Mine, Pisco Umay in Peru is the source of this chrysocolla egg, it is located about 200 km south of Lima.

Metaphysically, it is a stone of forgiveness and peace, a stone of compassion and gentleness. This is a very soothing and rejuvenating stone, and also one for empowering feminine energies. This is also a stone that encourages self awareness, confidence and sensitivity. It is a stone of communication, and teaching, and it also a favourite with monks and hermits.
