This Peridot Pendant in the form of a cross is set in Sterling Silver with a 925 hallmark on the back. The seven round cabochons are the typical vibrant olive green colour found in this often overlooked gemstone.
Peridot, also known as Chrysolite is a yellow green, transparent variety of the mineral Olivine. This beautiful olive green stone is one of the very few gemstones that is only found in one colour. The vast majority of gemstones were formed in the earths crust, but not Peridot. Together with diamonds Peridot was formed in the molten rock of the upper mantle. It is brought to the surface by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. Peridot are also sometimes found in meteorites.
