Purbeck Stone Chess or Draughts Board 37cm x 37cm square
This Purbeck Stone Chess Board has been hand crafted in one of Dorsets oldest working quarries. A quarry situated in the Isle Of Purbeck, close to the village of Langton Matravers. The polished stone board measures 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches square (37 cm x 37 cm). The back has also been finished in green felt material. By using the two contrasting colours of stone from different beds makes this an excellent example of true craftsmanship. This Chess or Draughts Board is something to treasure and additionally being one off piece that would make a superb and unique gift.
The Isle of Purbeck is located in Southern Dorset bordering the famous Jurassic Coast. This is an area that has been associated with the stone industry for thousands of years.
