Tiger’s Eye is an opaque, semi-precious stone with a gorgeous silky lustre of golden brown colours. It gets its colouring principally from iron oxide a metamorphic rock, and also a member of the quartz family. It is a ‘chatoyant’ gemstone, this refers to the ability for a stone to change colour when bands of light cross it in different directions. Found in a number of locations worldwide, including Australia, India and also Canada. Historically it was commonly worn as an amulet to keep the wearer safe from evil forces. Garnets belong to a group of silicate minerals, occurring in several different colours. Most people however associate garnets with a deep red colour. These are Indian Garnets which have the most intense deep red colours and the source of these beautiful stones.
