This superb 6.1cm Clear Quartz Flame is beautifully polished, making it very tactile. The Clear Quartz or Rock Crystal is from Madagascar which is the source of some of the worlds clearest quartz crystal. The crystal has then been carved into a twisting flame shape representing fire.
Quartz is an abundant silica mineral and is also found in a wide variety of forms. It is a hard mineral, on the Mohs scale of hardness it has a value of 7. In its various forms this is a mineral that can be completely opaque, translucent or can also be clear. Well known opaque varieties of quartz include Aventurine and Jasper. Clear varieties of quartz include Citrine, Smoky Quartz and Amethyst. When the Quartz is transparent it is also has the name Rock Crystal. In ancient times, Rock Crystal was originally thought to have been ice turned to rock. Ice that was frozen to such a cold temperature, that it had also lost the ability to thaw.
