This Blue Howlite & Marcasite pendant is set in Sterling Silver and has a 925 hallmark. With the sixteen tiny marcasite stones and classic ‘tooth’ shape, this pendant is gorgeous. Blue Howlite sometimes called ‘Turquenite’ is a semi precious stone has a similar appearance to Turquoise. It is sometimes seen for sale online masquerading as turquoise the colours are often very similar.
Blue Howlite is as a borate mineral that is principally that consists of calcium together with silica and other minerals. In its natural state it often comes in irregularly shaped nodules that are usually white and often dyed. It is a mineral that owes its name to the Canadian mineralogist Henry How (hence the name Howlite) who first came across the mineral in 1868.
