Green Onyx is a very hard stone, with rich, translucent ‘forest green’ colours. Onyx is a form of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz. Onyx was one of the favourite gemstones of the ancient Egyptians and also the Romans. Garnets, the January birthstone, can found in a range of different colours. These Garnets are from India. This is a country well known for producing stones with the most intense colours.
